It’s not the brain, it’s the body.

For most people with MND the intellect and memory are not affected, nor are the senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch.

Ian’s legs are getting weaker, this means the joy of walking has become no more. Each step is a struggle and a worry as to when he might fall.  Ian has become more reliant on his wheelchair and both he and Fiona are grateful for the little strength he has, to be able to move from the wheelchair to his armchair or commode or vehicle.

Ian’s mind is 100% and for this we are grateful.   A fellow MND patient from US who also lost the use of his arms says to try and explain the progression to his friends of similar age, he draws ana analogy to say that 1 month is as a year. So when friends see him after 6 months, it’s like seeing him after 6 years, the body ages like that.
