Communication
Some of you may have noticed that Ian does not communicate as much as he used to. Using his fingers is a struggle, his left thumb is more nimble than any other finger and even that, is difficult. Sending WhatsApp messages take much effort so if you get something from Ian, know he’s made the effort, or he has asked Fiona to type a reply on his behalf. Ian’s speech is also not what it used to be and he is very aware that he no longer speaks clearly.

We have set a new goal to raise funds for Ian to enable him to communicate with eye-gaze technology. He will be able to communicate using his eyes!
How it works:
Step 1: Bank Ian’s voice (This is proving to be difficult as he battles to say words followd by an “L”, such as “Clean”. Some days are better than others. (R2000)
Step 2: Get a tablet/Ipad pro (R12000 used)
Step 3: Get an eye tracking device and software. (R37 000)
Step 4: Allow Ian to practice and use the eyegaze software so that he may communicate.
Total cost: R51 000. Please help us raise funds for this cause by donating to his backabuddy campaign.
