Dragon Peaks Mountain Resort previously known as Dragon Peaks Park remains a favourite place for families to holiday.

Dragon peaks is situated in the central Drakensberg with viewing of the Dragons back, Sterkhorn, Champagne Castle and Cathkin mountain peaks.  It remains managed by the owners – the Tungay family, who have lived in the Champagne Valley for many years.

Dragon peaks is a place with many different sporting facilities, an on site restaurant and supermarket as well as a variety of accommodation types to suite different budgets.

 

 

 

Cottage Number Three – 8 Sleeper

A spacious 160sqm double story Thatched Cottage with three and half bedrooms and two bathrooms (master en suite). There is one double bed and six singles, a Kitchen and lounge/dinette. The cottage is situated near the duck dam and has a view onto the Drakensberg mountains.

Cottage Number Four – 2 Sleeper

A 45sqm Thatched Cottage with Loft, bedroom/lounge, three single beds, kitchen/dinette and bathroom with shower over the bath. The cottage is situated near the Duck Dam with a view onto the Drakensberg mountains.

Cottage Number Five – 2 Sleeper

A 45sqm Thatched Cottage with bedroom/lounge, one double bed, kitchen/dinette and bathroom with shower over the bath. The cottage is situated near the Duck Dam with a mountain view.

Cottage Number Six – 6 Sleeper

A 91sqm Thatched Cottage with two bedrooms and a loft, six single beds, kitchen/dinette/lounge and a bathroom with shower over the bath. Situated near the Duck Dam with a mountain view.

Thatch Cottages Numbers 7, 8 and 9 – Luxury 6 Sleepers

Three luxury thatched cottages overlook the tranquil Plettenberg Dam and the bubbling Sterkspruit River, with clear mountain views to their left. Each unit has three individual en-suite bedrooms with a lounge, fireplace, dry bar and kitchenette. The lounges are equipped with under-floor heating and air-conditioning. Each 45sqm bedroom has its own air-con, veranda and both a bath and shower. There are two twin suites and one double per cottage. Coffee/tea sachets are provided on arrival.

Maluti Log Cabins – 4 Sleepers

Luxury Log Cabins with veranda, two bedrooms with double beds and two singles. Kitchen/dinette/lounge, air-con, heater, bathroom with toilet, bath and separate shower.

Drakensbergs – 4 & 5 sleeper

These 40sqm Park Homes with built on verandas each have two bedrooms of one double bed and two singles. They have a kitchen/dinette/lounge with air-con and heater, and a bathroom with bath/hand shower and toilet. Three of the chalets have both a bunk bed and a single bed in the second bedroom. There are seventeen units in total on three terraces located towards the back of the park, in walking distance of the pool and restaurant.

Plettenbergs – 4 Sleeper

These 30sqm Park Homes each have two bedrooms of one double bed and two singles. They have a central kitchen/dinette/lounge and one bathroom with shower and toilet. Several units overlook the Plett Dam, and a further three are situated within the Caravan Park near to the Tennis Courts.

Luxury Thatch Cottage No 2

A large luxury 5 bedroom thatch cottage, this unit sleeps 12 people. Three double beds, three bathrooms, lounge kitchen and dining room. This cottage has a car port.

Mountain Base

The Mountain Base is ideal for special interest groups, situated over the Sterkspruit River, within walking distance of the Resort and its facilities yet far enough away to have a sense of privacy. The base contains twenty, two bed Cabins and three Dormitories sleeping up to 123 people. Bedding and towels are not provided and the cabins are not serviced. Communal ablutions consist of 14 toilets, 14 showers and one bath – the ablutions are serviced daily. The kitchen is equipped with cutlery, crockery, pots and pans and has one standard fridge, one double door display fridge, one chest deep freezer, ice machine, six gas and three electric plates, microwave and baine marie. The kitchen is not serviced.

The Base hosts the SAAF’s 87Helicopter Flying School Squadron four times a year when they run mountain flying training camps for their student pilots. It is also commonly used by school groups who come to the Drakensberg to enjoy the scenery and broad range of activities on offer in the area.

Caravan & Camping Sites – 8 per site

Ideal for camping and caravaning, we have grass, slab and shade sites to suit every taste.
Many sites enjoy a commanding mountain view. Our facilities include a brick braai, TV connection (1,2,3,e & video channel) and electrical points on all sites. Our 140 sites are serviced by three modern ablutions that are heated in winter. The sites have a mix of the standard 15amp and new 16amp electrical connections. Both the 16amp connection and television coaxe cables are available for hire or purchase. Caravaners have the added benefit of being able to store their caravans in our on-site storage facility at a reasonable monthly rate.

 Additional Information

  • Unless otherwise stated, all self catering accommodation is fully equipped with pillows, linen, bath towels, cutlery, crockery, pots, pans, stove, microwave, television, braai, toilet paper, starter pack coffee/tea and serviced daily.  Only breakfast dishes are washed by our staff.
  • The exception is The Mountain Base, where only the ablutions are serviced. The base does not have bath towels, bedding or towels, nor are complimentary coffee/tea starter packs provided.
  • In all circumstances swimming towels are NOT provided.

The on-site shop has every essential for casual catering, while our restaurant provides three daily meals or take-out snacks as required.
